DESCRIPTION:The ISLA Gaia Research Center invites you to participate in the seminar “Data Science applied to Geographic Information Systems” as part of the master’s course in Web Technologies and Systems Engineering\, given by Paulo Figueiredo (PhD) / CEiiA. \nPaulo Figueiredo is a Business Development Manager and Technical Project Leader with expertise in data science for spatial information. His background is in aerospace and ocean engineering\, with several years of experience\, being the last ones in remote sensing technologies. He has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA\, focusing on turning advanced technologies into commercial solutions. His work highlights the use of data science in understanding and managing Earth’s resources. \nThe seminar takes place next Saturday\, April 13th\, starting at 10am. DESCRIPTION:The ISLA Gaia Research Center invites you to participate in the seminar “Cyber resilience in the era of digital transformation” as part of the master’s course in Web Technologies and Systems Engineering\, given by Professor Mário Antunes (PhD) / Instituto Politécnico de Leiria. \nMário Antunes is a Professor at Polytechnic of Leiria in the Computers Engineering department. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Porto\, Portugal and since 2011 he has been senior researcher at INESC TEC. SUMMARY:Seminar: Exploring Machine Learning: Understanding the core concepts and applications
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Seminars class of the Master’s program in Web Technologies and Systems Engineering at ISLA Gaia\, the Research Center would like to invite you to attend an online seminar on the topic “Exploring Machine Learning: Understanding the core concepts and applications” \nIntroduction to Machine Learning with practical application that illustrates most of the basic concepts. Presentation of a python notebook with the resolution of an exercise that uses several supervised and unsupervised Machine Learning algorithms. The notebook covers several concepts\, which will be approached as the exercise is performed. \nAt the end of the seminar\, the notebook can be made available so that students can test it individually. \nOur guest is João Miguel Alves who is currently completing the PhD Programme in Health Data Science from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP)\, with his research focusing on clinical decision support systems powered by explainable artificial intelligence. \nJoão is lead data scientist at Metyis\, collaborating researcher at the Center for Health Technology and Services Research (CINTESIS@RISE)\, guest lecturer on health data analysis and modelling at the undergraduate medicine program from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP)\, and guest lecturer on machine learning and data mining at the postgraduate program in Business Analytics and Data Science from the Polytechnic Institute of Management and Technology (ISLA Gaia). \nJoão holds a BSc in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Porto (FFUP)\, a MSc in Marketing from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto (FEP) and a MBA from Porto Business School (PBS). \nThe seminar takes place next Saturday\, April 27th\, starting at 10am.
